The day was January 24th, 2016, Chris' birthday. We had decided to go out to dinner at PF Chang's in downtown Boise, little did I know it was all according to plan.
We indulged ourselves in a scrumptiously delectable meal in the excellent mood lighting of the restaurant. Even though we had eaten so much food, and even had some to take home, that we needed some dessert wontons. When they arrived Chris, being the gentleman he is, let me pick which one I wanted. And I know what you're thinking: "Be careful! There's something not edible in the wonton!" But you'd be wrong if you thought that.
There wasn't anything in my food but food. We gathered up our leftovers and headed out to go home. Chris asked me as we were walking out of the restaurant if we might want to go for a walk to try and let some of that food settle. I thought that was a great idea and thought we would just walk around in the area we were already in. But Chris surprised me by saying "Let's go up to the depot and walk around." I thought to myself: Hmmmmm that's kind of strange, we don't usually leave to go walk around after dinner... Eh, the depot is really close and I'm good with that.
So we got in the car and drove up to up to the Boise Depot. Once we got parked we paused for a moment before getting out of the car when I realized it was a full moon! I pointed this out to Chris who did the: "Oh, that's cool! I didn't know it would be a full moon tonight!" So we got out of the car and started walking down into the Platt Gardens. We walked down to the edge of the big pond where most of the koi are. There just so happened to be a picnic table right about there and Chris thought we should sit down. "This is strange," I thought to myself, "We came up here to walk around not sit more..."
But we sat down anyway. We talked about the day and how the city looked from our vantage point, you know nothing really interesting or important. Then the conversation turned and Chris looked at me and said that he was glad that he could spend moments like this with his best friend (me in case you were wondering), that he loved me and was so glad that he'd found me. He then proceeded to get up from the picnic table (which as we all know wooden picnic tables are a trap) and get down on one knee while pulling the ring out of his pocket and saying "Kimberly M-michelle Gale, will you marry me?"
Well, that's basically what he said cuz I didn't really let him finish before I said yes! and then he finished his sentence and I said YES! again! He took the sparkly in the dark ring out of the box and put it on me. Then we hugged and kissed and just stood there for a few moments like that. Then being suspicious like I am, my eyes darted to the big bush behind us and I whispered in his ear: "No one's going to pop out of the bushes and take pictures right? Like family or friends aren't going to pop out of the bushes at us right?" Luckily he said no, there wouldn't be anyone jumping out of the bushes. Which was a great relief. Sorry you guys, that's just creepy hiding in bushes in the middle of the night. |
