On December 22, 2016, we had a Christmas gathering at our house with Wesley's parents and Lauren's mom. The kids opened their presents first and then the adults. Wesley then asked everyone in the room to state one thing about Lauren that they loved about her. Skylar started by saying that, "I love that she feeds us!" followed by Elijah saying, "Because she is fun!" Lauren's mother who states that she loves that her daughter has such a big heart. Wesley's mother said that she loves that Lauren makes her son happy. Of course all of the women were in tears knowing what was coming and the kids smiling and slightly confused. Wesley's dad came next to last and said, "You can cook alright" which helped calm Lauren's nerves as the last person got down on one knee and said he agreed with everyone in the room. Wesley pulled out the most beautiful ring and asked for Lauren to be his wife. Through tears of joy, she responded, "YES".
