So... "a long time ago"... one of my best friends told me she was trying E-Harmony, and that I should too.  I told her I was not for sale or interested in making myself feel like a was for sale.  Vickie, I am here to publically apologize for shooting down a way of meeting someone that God can totally use.  Yes, Angela, I apologize to you too!

So... a short time ago ... I gave up.  And I signed up for E-Harmony.  The first person to come up for me was David.  I immediately really liked his profile, and thinking the like button was similar to facebook, clicked on the little smiley face.  Everyone one else that came up held no interest for me at all, which is a good thing, since when David replied to my icebreaker (what the click really was), no one else really had a chance!  We began sharing letters and in time our hearts.  By the time we met I was already half way in love, by the time we hugged good night (after our 6 hour first date), I knew I had found a friend.  Today I know I have found my best friend, and I can't wait for the day I no longer have to say "good bye" when I say "good night".

When beginning what was to become my senior year at Fresno Pacific University, I began dating a few times.  Since I was a returning student, the number of people I met at FPU my own age was pretty small.  Not wanting to date within my job circle, I quickly ran out of options.  This was when a friend at work recommended E-Harmony.  I told her, "That's E-Bay for people!" and quickly ducked as some piece of medical equipment was thrown at my head.  Sorry Sherry.

A short time later I decided to give it a try, it certainly couldn't be any worse than what was happening.  I was on E-Harmony for three months and had a few dates, but never found anyone I connected with.  It was finally time to log on and cancel my membership before it auto-renewed.  The failed experiment was over.  When I logged on there was the usual people who I had already seen, and one that I hadn't.  Lori from Fresno, CA.  I decided to take a quick look before I cancelled my membership.  As I read her profile I knew she was someone special.  Then I got the ice breaker.  I spent some time trying to decide if I should respond since I was going to be charged again, but I had to talk to her.

After my first letter I waited for a while before I got the reply (while I was at work no less).  When I got home I rushed to my computer to read her response.  This began a modern letter romance.  By the time we first met, I knew that this girl was truly special, as I had suspected.  As our simple 1 hour lunch date ended 6 hours and a movie later, I had found a very special friend.  I couldn't wait to see her again, and that feeling has not gone away.  On June 15 I proposed to my best friend and I can't wait to spend everyday with this very special girl.
