 | Before getting to the day of the proposal, I want to say here, for those of you who do not know, that I was once married. Of course, I thought it was going to last forever...like everyone thinks when they get married. Of course, it did not. I was actually in the middle of my divorce when I met Pat, so the idea of marriage wasn't something forefront in my mind.
However, after getting to know him better, and spending time with him, it is like I knew he was meant to be for me. In a way, I was glad that my previous marriage didn't work out, or I would never have met him.
Now, getting to the proposal...it was actually a horrible day, I know..right. Ok..backing up a bit, I had made it clear that he would have to propse to me, because I had pushed my previous marriage and think that it was really all me trying to make something that wasn't really there. Therefore, I did not want to do the same thing and push him into something he didn't want. Pat also said he wanted me to propose...so I figured it would never happen. Anyways, my divorce with my Ex finally became official in January.
Now, getting to the actual day...I was working something like 10 to 5 on Super Bowl Sunday. I remember that I felt very sick. I either had a bad cold or possibly some type of flu. Patrick came to pick me up at work and I remember he was acting strange. Of course, I didn't put too much thought into it because I just wanted to go to sleep. We were on our way to the car (oh yeah....he was picking me up because I had had my car repossessed...classy, right) and he stopped me in the parking lot. It was very slushy and dirty because it was one of those days that was cold, but on the border of 30 or so so the salt in the ice was making a nice dirty slush in the parking lot.
He stopped me in the middle of the parking lot and proposed to me. I was soooooo excited. I actually was very astonished. Of course I said yes. We then drove to Caleb and Sara's to watch the Super Bowl. Of course, I spent half the time with Andrew trying to get him to clean his room...half slept on the couch during the game (because who really cares about the game)...and then we left early so I could go to bed. It was actually rather anti-climatic. However, one of the best days of my life. |
