Ok so im not a very good liar. I got the ring months before I asked, and I let it slip that I had it. My idea was to then wait until the right time. I started planning for a time in February, and everything I thought would work didn't. The months came and went, but I couldn't figure out a way to ask her. I wanted something romantic and just us, because we never seem to get much time alone.
Then I came up with Kenwood Spa and Inn near Sonoma ( if you read Sarah's story you know this didn't happen) I booked it for July and was set. Well they say the best plans don't always work. I had looked at the calendar before booking, and I swear she wasn't working... Turns out I was wrong, and Sarah was working :( oh nooooo!!! I figured I would ask her to miss work and make something up (again not a good liar) and she told me she couldn't miss.
Now onto plan 2. As we were watching a movie, (American Wedding) Sarah made the comment she always wanted to stay at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay where the movie was filmed. That morning I booked it. Kendall was there to help. First step, I booked the weekend she had off :-) Second, I arranged for a sitter for the kids. At this point I am feeling good. Third, Kendall and I went to pick up the ring (it was at my parents). I am set. I have a plan, and for over 2 weeks Kendall doesn't say a word. Sarah has no idea. Then the night night before at dinner we were talking about going to Grandma and Papi's, Kendall says "We can't do that, we are with Aunt Casey so you can give Sarah her ring remember". Arrrhhh
The best plans often aren't. Sarah knew it was coming, but it still was amazing and she did say YES which was the most important. |
