On October 21, 2014, Alex and Silvia went on their first date, thanks to an online dating app. If anyone knows me (Alex) you know that I’m the guy that gets things done in a timely and punctual manner. Well, on this date, I was running late! Not really late but just a few minutes. I sent Silvia a text message while I was on my way that I was running a few minutes late. As I pulled into my parking spot I saw a pretty woman walking down the stairs of the parking structure. I just knew it was Silvia. So, I bailed out of my car and went down the stairs. Just as I got to the bottom of the stairs, Silvia sent me a text message…”Where are you?”. I sent a reply…”I’m right behind you”. Silvia turned around with this big beautiful smile on her face that stopped me where I stood. I call it her electric smile! Little did I know that smile would change my life forever.

Silvia and I had a fantastic first date. We talked all night like old friends and even went to another spot to continue our conversation. They eventually kicked us out! I held her hand as I walked Silvia back to her car and we made plans to meet again. We spoke to each other every day since then. We continued dating and ended up spending as much time together as our busy lives would allow.

It wasn’t soon after meeting that I knew I had someone special. Really and truly special. I was in love. We introduced each other to our respective families. This was a big step for us. We have 7 children between us! I heard these nightmare stories about blending families and I was apprehensive. Fortunately for us this wasn’t an issue. I not only got to know Silvia’s children but came to love and care for them too. Silvia also met my children and came to love and care for them.

In October of 2015, I planned a birthday trip to Hawaii. I also planned to buy an engagement ring and propose to Silvia. Before I left, I asked Sev (Silvia’s sister) for her hand in marriage. I’m old school   and this was a necessary step. Sev gave me her blessing!

So, on my birthday, on a beautiful point overlooking Kapalua Bay in Maui, I asked Silvia if she would spend the rest of her life with me. Silvia put out her hand and I put a ring on her finger.

On June 9, 2019, we invite you to join us in the celebration of our marriage. Silvia and I have been waiting for this day for a very long time and we are anxious to share our special day with all of you.
