 | Carlos and I first met on Dec. 30, 2003, when Carlos (from Maryland) and I (from Seattle) came down to Miami, FL for New Year's with some friends. We first laid eyes on each other during dinner at Sr. Frog's in Coconut Grove while dining with Brooke and Jorge Manrique, Ros Angus and Selwyn Makamure, Jackie Anderson, and Stephanie Shields. During the visit, Carlos was impressed by the fact that I could speak fluent Spanish and I was impressed by Carlos's dance moves.
In March, 2004, I went to visit Stephanie in Miami, FL and Carlos stopped in Miami on his way back to Maryland after visiting his mom in Colombia, so we crossed paths again. While we only had a short visit this time around, we clicked but realized that we lived across the country from one another.
September, 2005 rolled around and I was living in Miami with Steph at the time. Carlos came down for a long weekend with a friend and we got a chance to see each other again and reconnect.
Around January, 2006 Carlos and I realized there was more to this than just friendship and we started staying in touch long-distance on a regular basis. In June, 2006 I visited Carlos in Washington DC and realized how much I loved it there (and being with him).
Carlos and I did the ‘long-distance relationship’ thing for a year, with multiple visits in between, and in June, 2007 I moved to Silver Spring, MD to open a new chapter of my life and to give my relationship with Carlos a chance to blossom. |
