Our journey began on November 5, 2012. We met on Match.com. We had both kind of "given up" on finding a match. Russ emailed me and I thought to myself, "this will probably be another dead end match so why even respond?" Then decided what the heck? He emailed me back with his phone number and we texted the entire day. He asked me a couple of times if he could call me and I was like I hate talking on the phone, I'm not going to let him call me. Well, if any of you know Russ very well, he's pretty persistent and wouldn't give up. Needless to say, 5 hours later we were still on the phone! We agreed to meet the next evening for the first time. (I made him pick me up at QT) Neither one of us believed in love at first sight until that evening! I took Russ to one of my favorite places in Des Moines which is Gray's Lake. We walked on the bridge, talked, listen to music and had a fabulous evening. Each night after that we were so excited to talk to each other and talked for hours. We continued our journey through the next few months. We talked about getting married and knew we wanted to be together forever. He teamed up with my best friends, Gail and Alex Marske, to coordinate the engagement. Gail and I went for breakfast and then for a walk at Gray's Lake. We were walking across the bridge at Grays and up ahead I see Russ standing there with his back to me, he turns around and walks towards me w/ a dozen roses and gets down on one knee and proposes. It was so awesome! The rest is history! |
