How we met:
We were matched on Eharmony.com on November 14, 2011. We communicated through that website and Facebook for about three weeks. Amanda and her friends (April and Christine) were coming down to Tucson for their friend, Beth's, graduation from University of Arizona December 16th and 17th. Danny 'happened' to be bringing his church to Tucson to go to a Christmas musical on December 16th. We decided to meet for chocolate fondue at the Melting Pot in Tucson after his musical.
Amanda: My friends needed a car for the night, so they were driving me to my first (almost blind) date with Danny...I felt like a teenager being dropped off by my parents. On the way, I texted Danny and said, "How should we greet each other? Handshake or hug?"
Danny: I was thinking the same exact thing. We had never met in person, but we had been communicating on computer and phone for a month. So, I said, "Let's start with a handshake."
Amanda: I remembered laughing and being somewhat disappointed (hahahaha, just kidding!). Then, not wanting my friends to have to wait up for me and not wanting to appear completely juvenile, I texted him, "Can you give me a ride back to my hotel?"
Danny: Oh my word. This girl has never met me, and she's asking for a ride back to her hotel after our first date. I texted, "Sure, but I will have to talk to your parents."
So I, Amanda, remember walking up to the Melting Pot (because I asked my friends to park a little bit away, instead of dropping me off at the front door). I don't recall being super-shaky or nervous. I remember walking in and seeing Danny sitting in the sitting area--so handsome!! He had a gift bag with him. We were walked back to our very private table--it was so dark in there!
We sat in a horseshoe-shaped booth about 5 feet apart from each other ;) hahahahaha. Two things I remember distinctly--he loved to talk, and he loved to drink water--his words that night, "I drink like a horse!"
I had to go to the bathroom at some point (watching him drink all that water maybe ;), and going into the girls' restroom, there was a sign that said, "If he offers you the last strawberry, he's totally into you." Well, he did, but then he told me he didn't like strawberries. hahahahaha |
