| | Born and raised a “Farmer’s Daughter”, Callie hails from the great state of Montana. She grew up in the town of Conrad, (between Great Falls and the Canadian Border) which has one stoplight and lots of wonderful people! Callie’s high school class graduated 63 students back in 2003. Callie is a true small town sweetheart, always dreaming big and going for anything she puts her mind to. Attending the University of Montana (Go Griz!) in 2003, she became a member of the UM Dance Team and participated for three years. Graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with an emphasis in Performance and Choreography, Callie really enjoyed college and made some great friends along the way.
Callie’s desire to become a professional dancer brought her to Las Vegas in 2007, and her first performing job was as a magician’s assistant at the Sahara Hotel & Casino. Then she auditioned for the Tournament of Kings Show at the Excalibur Hotel and quickly became a member of the cast. During the Spring of 2009, Callie tried out for the Cheerleading Team of the National Football League’s Arizona Cardinals. She earned a spot, moved to Arizona, and fulfilled a dream of being a Professional Cheerleader. When the season wrapped up, Callie was offered a full time position back in Vegas with the Tournament of Kings, where she performs six nights a week with King Arthur and the handsome knights of the Round Table. | | Weighing in at 10 pounds, 4 ounces, Charles Patrick Werk was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and was raised on a two acre “ranch” just six miles from the world famous “Glitter Gluch”.....downtown Las Vegas. He’s a city boy with a country heart that attended Faith Lutheran Junior Senior High School and graduated with his class of 52 students and an academic scholarship. He played Ironman Football for six years, enjoyed baseball and wrestled for a few seasons. His interest in Rodeo (Saddle Bronc Riding) began in his senior year, and extended into four years while he attended University of Wyoming. His rodeo team mates grew into best friends for life, seeing Patrick through the highs and lows of college and beyond.
After college, Patrick ventured to Nebraska for a short while to learn leather craft, the ins and outs of a welding business, while living and helping out on a large cow-calf operation. He returned to Las Vegas to try his hand in performing for the Tournament of Kings Show. Through some trials and tribulations, he remains the “King of Hungary” or Norway (or several other parts) as a rider, stuntman and performer. His “day job” includes managing 10 to 16 mature bucking bulls for use at local rodeos and practices and breeding a few cows and heifers to produce the “bulls of the future”. His heart has always been in Wyoming and he looks forward to returning to a rural small town atmosphere to ranch, maybe in Idaho. | | Barbie and Ken, you ask? Yes. Nicknames most becoming of a dark-haired, attractive, personable young lady and a handsome, buff fellow with an infectious smile. In 2008, when Las Vegas newcomer Callie Yeager landed a part-time performing job with the Tournament of Kings show, she was sitting with Bill Werk, Patrick’s older brother and the Assistant Company Manager, watching the show to get acquainted with what was expected of her. Patrick caught Callie’s eye, and she immediately asked Bill, “Who is that guy?” He replied, “That’s Patrick, my younger brother.” As Callie began rehearsals and then performing, she shyly got to know Patrick, but never let on that she had a crush on him. Patrick only focused on whatever he was focusing on, and the both of them wound up dating other people, but considered each other a friend.
When Callie’s opportunity came along to join the Arizona Cardinals Football Cheerleading Team, she moved to Arizona. Her last day at TOK was Patrick’s 27th Birthday. They both stayed in touch and became detached with their other relationships. “Half-way” dates evolved, with Patrick driving to Kingman, Arizona and Callie from Phoenix. Their first date was at the Route 66 Café where they dined on Pizza and Milk Shakes. Then they went to the movie, “Funny People” and despite the fact they agreed the movie was horrible, they had a wonderful time anyway. The evening ended early, as they both had a long drive home.
Later that fall, Callie invited Patrick to Phoenix for the Cardinal Game vs. Green Bay. This was Patrick’s first ever NFL Game. He was very excited. After the game, Callie took Patrick out for pizza to meet all the cheerleaders and they agreed he was a “keeper”. The next day, while Callie attended a business meeting, Patrick patiently hung out at Cabella’s Sporting Goods. They went to the Arizona Rattlers Baseball Game in downtown Phoenix and watched Montgomery Gentry and the fireworks show. Then it happened.......The First Kiss!
Patrick asked Callie to be his girlfriend, but she respectfully declined as she did not want a long distance relationship. Being reasonable and responsible, he disappointingly agreed. They phoned each other daily and visited when time allowed. Then when football season ended, Callie was offered a full time position at TOK and returned to Las Vegas. On February 21, 2010, Patrick took Callie to the King of Country George Straight Show, where he asked her to be his girlfriend. Callie said “YES” and Barbie and Ken were goin’ steady!! | | On a beautiful day in March 2011, Patrick reported to his mother that he had just made the most difficult phone call he had ever made. The call was to Conrad, Montana to Mr. and Mrs. Gary Yeager to ask for their daughter’s hand in marriage. Of course, Callie did not know about this phone call, and would find out the details a while later. Just a short time later, Patrick’s college friends came to visit, and he asked them to help him pick out “The Ring”. This exciting purchase information was made available to a chosen few, sworn to oath to not spill the beans to Callie. Patrick pondered the time and place and the perfect setting.
On May 10th, 2011, a Tuesday night (the only dark night for TOK.......dark night meaning night off), Callie had purchased tickets to see the show “Penn & Teller” and invited Patrick to dinner to celebrate his birthday, which was the next day...........”THE” day he planned to propose.
Callie was dressed to the nines and ready to go, but Patrick wasn’t focused and was running late. Callie urged him to hurry up..........”we gotta go or we’ll be late!” Patrick said, “Just a second, I have to grab something!” Callie waited patiently and watched him walk into the room very nervously. Callie asked again, “Are you ready?” Patrick started kissing Callie, and she reminded him again they would be late. Patrick said, “I have to ask you a question.” He got down on one knee, presented her with the ring and said, “Callie, will you marry me?”
Callie was surprized beyond belief. Her eyes swelled with tears and replied, “Yes, of course!” Lots of hugging and kissing followed and they did make the show, dinner and celebrated a great evening. | |
