Bride

As cool as it would be, I didn't actually propose to her on a roller coaster, however it was definitely an emotional one!

We traveled to North Carolina, visiting my good friend Cameron and scouting out a college campus. On our return trip home, we parked in a Hardee's parking lot and went to walk around the campus, enjoying the 45 mph winds and the bustle of college kids making their way around the town. As we wrapped up, I jokingly announced that we were parked in a towing zone and that my car would be towed when we got back.

I wasn't right, but I wasn't wrong either. My truck had a nice bright, yellow boot attached to the front wheel, and a pink slip taped to my window. Now, of course as a trained lockpick, I was prepared for this situation, however I saw it as a perfect opportunity to really mess with Kayla's emotions. As she sat on a picnic table, set under a gorgeous maple, upset and blaming herself for this unfortunate turn of events, I dug through my backpack for my "secret cash stash" (as Kayla told me later, thats what she thought I was getting until the very end, which is a very understandeable assumption). In reality, I was digging out a personally customized engagement ring from a ludicrously tied sock-knot.

Kneeling down in front of her was the most anxiety inducing event of my life - talk about a racing heart! I knew from the get-go that she would say yes, but I still stumbled over my words, which she didn't hear me say because she SNATCHED THE RING FROM MY HANDS IMMEDIATELY AND BEGAN CRYING OUTRIGHT, SAYING "YES, YES."

Finally, Mr. Put-you-in-a-boot showed up and freed us from the Hardee's parking lot. The 6 hour car ride home was her glimpsing at her hand and bursting into happy tears all over again.

I guess that's one way to lighten the mood<3
