| ![]() Shane, here. With just a few days away from the big day, people keep asking me if I'm nervous. I'm one of those guys who doesn't get nervous until it's actually happening. I'm a stage actor and I've been on TV many times in my career. I usually don't get nervous until the curtain opens or the tally light comes on the camera. (That's the red light that lets you know your camera is up.) Ask me around 5pm this Saturday if I'm nervous. The answer will be "yes!" :) Everything is set in place, though. We litterally just have to show up and do the deed this Saturday. I can't believe this moment we've been planning for so long is just five days away. PS: I think Andy's nervous, though. WEBSITE CHANGES The lovely people at our shaneandandy.com wedding website vendor, Honeymoon Wishes, did a revamp of their website which make all my custom HTML coding I did on the site look not as pretty as it used to look. Sorry about that. :( ![]() Hello, everyone. This is Shane. I'll admit. I've been the cool, calm and collected one about the wedding-- until now. A friend this morning said, "Your wedding is just a month away." WHAT?! A month away! Oh my goodness. I can't believe it. Don't get me wrong-- we pretty much have everything done and ready well in advance of the big day; but before we know it, it will be that time and we'll be saying our vows in front of our closest friends and family. I wasn't nervous until today. Now I'm starting to go through everything we've done with a fine toothed comb to make sure our special day is perfect. I can't wait for you to join us. If you're not able to join us, I know you'll still be thinking of us on our special day. ![]() We went to Iowa over the weekend to get our marriage license and meet with our vendors one more time. The process of getting the license at the Polk County Courthouse was a lot less time consuming than we both expected. The wedding day is just 55 days away!!! We're excited. Our great friend Jose met us at a notary public's office this morning. Apparently, she didn’t have a key to the office, and the person who did showed up late. She got out of her car and asked if we were there to get something notarized. She took our papers and put them on the hood of her car. Fighting the wind, she started filling out one of the papers when we quickly realized she was putting our names on the page that Jose was supposed to sign. (In Iowa, a disinterested party has to sign a paper that goes with our marriage license application for some reason.) When she realized that, she said that we can just go inside once they open up the building a print another page off from the internet. She then started filling out the page that we were supposed to sign. Andy signed his name and she put her notary stamp on the page, which was on the hood of her Mercedes, and BLAM! She slammed the notary stamp down. (If I had a Mercedes, I wouldn’t be slamming notary stamps down on it, but that’s just me.) She then had me sign the paper, lined her stamp up on the page, and BLAM! She slammed the stamp down again. Only the outline of the stamp showed up for some reason. The center of the stamp with all her official notary information on it didn’t make it from the stamp to the paper. So, again, she put her stamp down and BLAM! Poor Mercedes hood. It didn’t show up again, so she said that the first stamp under Andy’s name should suffice. By then, the door to the building was unlocked and we went inside, out of the miserable North Texas wind. Andy logged onto the computer and reprinted the page that Jose was supposed to sign. He filled it out, signed it and got the fancy notary stamp. FINALLY. Now Andy and I go to Iowa Friday to file our application with the state. We can’t wait until June 4! Shane Allen ![]() We've been told by a couple of people that they received an error when they tried to purchase something from the wedding registry. We've independently tested the site, and had our site vendor, HoneymoonWishes.com, test the site and it is working. Due to space restraints at The Sheuerman House, we are not hiring a photographer for the wedding and reception. We ask that anyone who wants to, bring their digital cameras and snap away. We'll give you our email address if you don't already have it so you can share your photos with us! We'll even post some of them to ShaneandAndy.com. OH! Speaking of that... be sure to come back here after the wedding to see photos and blog updates from our Honeymoon Cruise that you'll also be a part of through our online wedding registry. Andy doesn't want anyone to see the rings until the day of the wedding. Just another thing for you to look forward to on our big day! :) ![]() For those who will be in Des Moines on Friday, June 3 we will be having a 7pm dinner at Cafe di Scala, and would love it if you could join us. The restaurant is located just down the road from the Sheuerman House. Click here to view Cafe di Scala's menu and pricing. We've had the pleasure of meeting the chef owner, Tony Lemmo, and it is sure to be a wonderful "pre-wedding" evening with great friends and great food. If you would like to join us, please let us know by May 15 so we can make reservations in advance. Just email TheShaandy@gmail.com This isn't an actual "Rehearsal Dinner"; but more of a gathering of friends and family the night before the big day. Click here to view the Online Gift Registry. I just got through writing the order and script of our wedding ceremony. We want it to be short, so I wanted to write it to make sure it timed out right. As it stands now, we'll plan on having a ceremony that is less than five minutes long. Short, but still full of love and emotion. :-) Can't wait! Look for invitations in the mail in February. Andy and I just got back from Iowa. We met with some great caterers and an amazing cake company. Your taste buds will be on overload!!! We'll be spending the next few days looking over quotes and deciding exactly what we'll be serving our guests on our special day. Save the Date: June 4, 2011. Now everyone has an easy way to find our wedding, reception and registry information online. -Shane How exciting! It's almost midnight and I just finished putting some of the finishing touches on our cruise registry. I'm so excited that everyone will have the opportunity to take part in our honeymoon this way! It's like everyone will be along with us in their own special way. Okay... maybe the lack of sleep has me overly mushy and happy; but it really is exciting! -Shane Click here to view the Online Gift Registry. |
