We have been together in love since January 12th 2008 thanks to an incoherent e-mail about the tv show Gilmore Girls sent from me to Emily on Match.com. Little did I know she had just gone through 8 bad dates on the dating service and was just about to give up until she received my quirky e-mail that made me seem very different from other guys' on Match.com. It turns out I was her lucky #9!

In the past 3 years we've had many adventures both big and MINI, but one of the date's that stood out the most for us was our first trip to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose, Texas. She had told me that she loves exotic animals (especially giraffes) and had always wanted to visit Africa. But like me, she has a fear of malaria, being eaten alive in our sleep, political uprisings, genocide, HIV, disease carrying monkeys, hippos that aren't as friendly as they look and all of the other many things that can kill you in Africa. So Fossil Rim is much more our style when it comes to safaris. It's more of a Texas Safari.

In 2009 we were introduced to a place most people have never been to or heard of at our favorite place...The Lodge and the Foothill Safari Camp at Fossil Rim. We fell even more in love with the Wildlife Center and decided that this would be a very fun and unique place to get married at one day.

On a random Tuesday night in November of 2010 I surprised Emily with an engagement ring on the balcony of my radio station in the rain under the canopy of a very special illuminated yellow umbrella. The yellow umbrella is a symbol of light and happiness keeping us safe and dry whenever there are dark days. Plus, it's also nod to our favorite television show How I Met Your Mother which we've watched since our first very first year together.

Thanks to the help from a few friends, our official wedding date is... NINE-24-11.

Our wedding and reception will take place at the Pavilion & Deck in the middle of Fossil Rim's Foothills Safari Camp, which is in a secluded two acre fenced enclosure that overlooks one of the main animal watering holes of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. This is sure to be a very scenic wedding with the exotic animals just feet away and a perfect place for a first dance as the sun sets on the park. We will officially be the 3rd couple ever to be married here!

BRING YOUR CAMERAS & MOST IMPORTANTLY... DON'T FORGET YOUR DIRECTIONS CARD WITH THE GATE CODE.

The wedding ceremony will start promptly at 6pm.

NOTE: We have decided not to post anything about the wedding on Facebook until after we are married since we can only invite about 80 people total. We'd love to invite everyone we know and love, but a very limited guest list is the trade off for a really unique venue that fits our style perfectly. Since we won't be posting every detail of our wedding on Facebook, please check out Our Blog page here. Thanks!

This is a safari style wedding and will be fairly non-traditional so feel free to come dressed comfortably for an outdoor wedding in business casual dress (please no shorts or NASCAR t-shirts) with plenty of drinks, heavy hors d'oeuvres and dancing. No jackets required. There will be ceiling fans and air conditioned areas available just in case summer lasts a little longer this year.

The Fossil Rim Safari Camp and Lodge is a full functioning hotel hidden within the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. Unfortunately there are only 12 rooms which have all been assigned to members of the wedding party and a few guests coming from outside of Texas.

Glen Rose is just about an hour south of Fort Worth which isn't far by Texas standards... but if would like to stay close to camp, there are plenty of hotels within 15 minutes of the wedding site if you would like to not have to worry about driving home. In you invitation you'll find details about discounted rooms at the Best Western, but just in case our block of rooms sell out, here's a list of other lodging options very close by...
