The most common question we have gotten since being engaged has got to be, "how did you guys meet?" Well...here's the long drawn out story..
In December of 2010 Ryan tried adding me on FB. I denied while writing him a "do I know you?" message. He quickly responded with "Sorry, I went to school with an Amy Young, and I thought you were her when I saw your name. --Our conversation ended at that--
On February 6th, 2011 Ryan again tried adding me. This time I let his request to pend, and decided to stalk out his page. I found that we had one mutual friend in common, Ed, whom happened to be my best friend from High School. So I messaged Ed and asked "who the heck is this kid?' Ed answered and told me "He's harmless, he works at Macera I see him all the time when I have to get stuff for work.
So I gave in. I added this kid and again messaged him explaining that I was not the Amy he thought I was, my name was AIMEE. He "lol" and said he knew but he saw my name again and saw that we had some other friends in common so what could it hurt.
--Whatever, I let him be on my friend list for a day--
Then I did a little more digging and thought 'hey this kid is kindda nice looking' So again I messaged him. This time our talk went for a long time. A very long time. 48 straight hours to be exact. We stayed up ALL night long talking on FB messenger.
Finally my mom noticed I wasn't getting off the computer. She asked what was going on... I remember looking at my mom and saying "Either this kid is the biggest liar in the world, and he'll be gone in a month, or i'm going to marry him. There's going to be no in between here.
February 9th I am at my best friends house telling her all about this guy and she said "well what are you waiting for, make a date!" I said "ok ill see if he wants to do dinner and a movie sometime. She said NO. You do a date where you can get to know each other, or at least something not in a dark theater so you can see each other. So I asked Ryan that night if he wanted to come to my nephews talent show at my old high school. (It was the next night) and to my surprise, he said yes right away!
He came out to the school, we met in the parking lot, and by the end of the night hands were already being held. I had butterflies in my stomach all night, but I also KNEW this was something real. |
