Darren asked me to marry him on March 22nd at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Prior to the proposal, I had no idea what he had going on behind the scenes. It was the perfect day because it was the 22nd, which is our birthdates and it was finally a clear spring day in Dallas. It was so romantic, he prepared a picnic and told me that we would be metting our friends to attend a festival at the Arboretum. Darren kept everything very low-key and cool (which I later found out he was so nervous leading up to the proposal). I had been working on trying to close a real estate transaction, so I was running late. Darren still kept it cool telling me not to worry. I got ready quickly and we hopped in the car. Not knowing he was about to propose, I had to take a business call on our way to the botanical gardens so we didn't have time to visit prior. Once we made it to the gardens, we only had 30 minutes before the gardens closed and the "festival" started. It was our first time to the Dallas Arboretum and Boticanical Gardens which was so lovely. Intricate bronze statues and water features coupled with millions of colorful flowers from tulips to daffodlis set the backdrop. I started to call our friends to see where they were (which in fact they were in on the proposal and were not at the Arboretum). I tried to call them, but they did not answer. I texted them to send me their location in the arboretum so we could meet them. Little did I know, Darren was about to propose. He took me to this beautiful waterfall in the middle of the gardens with koi swimming in the pond. There was a small grotto where we sat on a bench under the waterfall just talking. Behind the waterfall, Darren got down on one knee and pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. I was so shocked! He told me he was sorry because the ring was sweaty due to his nervousness. I laughed and immediately said yes! It was such a wonderful and beautiful moment, set in a gorgeous location. At that instant, we were filled with so much love and joy.
