Bride

It was March 2012. Caleb and I were getting very excited about our trip to Las Vegas with our friends from Flight Centre! It was gearing up to be a pretty awesome trip! We basically had a full itinerary planned, which included a lot of shopping, eating, and some spare time for a few drinks ;)

I had never been to a Cirque du Soleil show before and was highly interested in seeing "O". The only night that would have worked, would have been the Sunday we were there, March 19th. A few of my friends were interested, so we were trying to plan out buying the tickets. However, it fell on the same night that Caleb had a surprise dinner for him and I planned...which he had already made reservations for.

I tried to get him to move the reservation to an earlier time, so I could make the show before we went to Lavo for Bottle Service...however he would not budge. He was adament on us going to this dinner, at a specific time, on that day. I honestly thought nothing of it and just assumed that it was a fancy place that you needed to book months in advance, so there was no wiggle room.

Finally, the trip came! We were having an awesome time!! We did a lot of shopping, a lot of $1 shots from Fat Tuesday's, and a "pub crawl" on St. Patties day, which ended up being so horrible that we basically gave up and went to one bar by the end of it!

Sunday was finally here! I was so excited to go out for our dinner! Someone accidently broke the news about where he was taking me, the day before, but I could not have been happier about it! He took me to the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris, Las Vegas! We had gone there together, the first time we were in Vegas in 2009.

So, away we go. We get there, and the hostess seats us at a table that is right at the window, which overlooks the Bellagio Fountains. Caleb had made a comment earlier about how it was not dark out yet, and he seemed pretty upset about it, but I did not think anything of it...

We took a look over the menu, decided on our meals, which we both ordered Filet Mignon. It was amazing. I honestly could not put my fork down. It went so well with the $27 glass of wine I accidently ordered...

Part way through the meal, I noticed Caleb was not eating his steak...he did not look like himself and seemed very quiet and was making a lot of small talk. I also noticed that the Bellagio Fountains were going off and that it was dark out...

He started talking about our trip, how happy he was to be here, and how much fun we were having. He asked me if I promised to travel the world with him and if I would love him forever. Of course I said Yes! Then, he asked me to marry him.

I was speechless. It felt like I had not said any words for an eternity. I just kept staring at him, and the ring, then back at him. I could not believe it was  happening! I finally remembered about how to speak again, and said Yes.

I honestly have never been happier than that very moment...he is the love of my life and I feel so lucky that he is the man I get to spend the rest of my life with!

Groom

I was extremely excited to go on vacation not only with Lindsay but some of our great friends from Flight Centre. Las Vegas had always been one of my favorite places to go, but this trip was going to be my best Vegas trip yet. After many years of wanting to propose, I finally got everything together for what I knew would be the best weekend of my life.

From the beginning of the travel planning I wanted to make everything perfect. We booked a nice hotel at the Vdara, when normally any hotel would do when in Vegas! I hounded the hotel staff multiple times prior to our arrival to see what they could do to make our experience memorable. When we arrived they had us in a suite overlooking the Las Vegas strip and the Bellagio fountains. So far everything had gone according to plan (minus the check in lady almost blurting "congratulations" to us upon arrival...fortunately Lindsay didn't catch that!)

The weekend was amazing, though I was very anxious to get to the big day. Immediately when we arrived at our hotel, I snuck to our friend Dahlia's room, so she could lock up the engagement ring in their safe, preventing any chance of Lindsay accidentally finding it. I was enjoying myself and totally relaxed all weekend… That was until the time had finally arrived!  It was 30 minutes until our reservation at the Eiffel Tower restaurant, and I had to get ready for the big moment. Immediately the pressure hit me, I felt like my heart was racing a million miles a minute. I made up what I thought was a decent excuse to leave Lindsay in the room to go get the ring: "I'm going to bet on the Lakers, I'll be back in 15 minutes!” Fortunately Lindsay doesn't follow sports, otherwise she would have caught on that the game had already started! I dashed to Dahlia's room, where the gang was hanging out. After some much needed support from everyone, I grabbed the ring, stuffed it in my suit pocket, and raced back up to the room.

We arrived at dinner, and I already felt like I had sweat through my suit jacket! The host greeted us by saying "Happy wedding anniversary". If my eyes could have shot daggers, she would have needed to hit the deck! Fortunately Lindsay didn't flinch and we headed to the table. At this point I had no appetite and wanted none of the amazing food that was in front of me. After eating what I could, I couldn't wait any longer! The Bellagio fountains started up and I felt there was no better moment. I don't even remember exactly what I said, but as soon as I pulled the ring from my jacket, Lindsay stared at me, not saying anything for what felt like an eternity. When she finally realised I was waiting on her every breath, she said exactly what I wanted to hear. The girl I wanted to spend the rest of my life with said yes, and I couldn't have been any happier!
