I remember being a child and getting a little bit of money from my mother. She would say to me, "don't let it burn a hole in your pocket." It always did though. My excitement drove me right to the corner store to spend it on candy or bubblegum. It's a feeling that does go away as we get older though. That wonderful feeling came back to me when I had McCarron's ring in my pocket. I had planned to hold onto it for at least a week, but that same excitement that had been dormant for so long drove me to her parents' house to ask for her hand in marriage. That same evening I asked her if she would join me for a walk downtown. I was doing my best to contain my excitement so she wouldn't suspect what was about to happen. It was a Monday though and we usually just do domestic things on Monday nights. We walked to the center of the park where there was a huge, beautiful water fountain. We both sat on the wall of the fountain and enjoyed the ambience for awhile. The conversation flowed perfectly into my proposal. I let her know that I wanted her love for the rest of my life. And in return, she will always have my love too. I finally had her ring out of my pocket and on her finger, asking her to be my wife. Laughing and crying, she said yes. |
