Sarah was working as a hostess the Chinese restaurant, China Palace, and Mike and his family would come in and order food regularly. Sarah didn’t really notice Mike (oops lol) until he came in with his Dad all dressed in their golf clothes after playing at a nearby course. Mike was playing hard to get by playing on his phone acting like he wasn’t interested in Sarah, while his dad made small talk with her. It definitely worked she didn’t think he was interested so she got back to work and didn’t think any of it.

A couple weeks later his parents had come in to pick up food and so his mom had described Mike asked Sarah if she remembered her son. She remembered him and was really excited that his mom brought him up because she thought he was really cute. She went back to work and when their food was ready she brought it out to them. Before they left Mike’s mom asked her for her phone number to give to Mike (which Mike will never live down) and Sarah not wanting to say no because she was interested in him instead told her that if Mike came in and asked her for it she would give it to him. They went home and told Mike what they did and he was so upset and embarrassed and told them he couldn’t ask Sarah out now and that he wasn’t going to tell them again when he liked someone.

He let a few weeks go by before his family had ordered from the restaurant. Sarah was almost to the point of giving up on him and so when he had walked in she was so happy and really wanted to talk to him. Unfortunately she was also in the middle of a phone call with a lady who was trying to place a to-go order and she was taking her sweet time. She was trying to hard to get off the phone so she could talk to him but the lady was just not having it wanting Sarah to list off the whole menu to her. (even though there is one on the website!) When Mike’s order was ready Sarah’s manager had helped him but before walking out the door he thought better of it and turned around and wrote his phone number on the back of the receipt and slide it over to her. She was so excited and after work she texted him and they talked for hours.

After finally getting his phone number, Sarah and Mike had talked quite a bit the next week and she decided to invite him to join her, her friend Lacy and Lacy’s friend from work, when they went to the Salt River to go tubing. It was the first time they had seen each other since they started talking and Sarah was so nervous. The four of them started out all together floating along but gradually Lacy and her friend started drifting further and further away from them. They finally had time to themselves to get one another a little more. Sarah didn’t take into account that every time the river took a turn the tubes would drift over to the bank where you have to fight off the surrounding branches and bushes. She managed to somewhat gracefully free herself from running right into these obstacles until about the middle of the river run. This unlucky time she grabbed on to the branch so it wouldn’t hit her, but the current was strong in this area and it had slipped from her hand and hit Mike right in the face. (Ouch! Poor guy!) She felt so bad and was so embarrassed because it really looked like it hurt! Mike did his best to hide how much it hurt though and told her that it was okay that he was fine.  Luckily he was a good sport and took her hand and they spent the rest of the time free of those pesky branches. Overall they had an amazing time (minus the bodily harm….oops) and they met back up with Lacy and her friend. They stopped and grabbed a bite to eat at In and Out Burger before Sarah had to rush off to work.
