 | I don't believe in love at first sight. Rationally, how can anyone say that they love a person until they get to know that person. However, I can honestly say that the very first time I saw Tawanda, I knew there were something special about her.
Being in a new environment at NC A&T State University and seeing all the new and pretty faces was an extreme jolt for a young man from a small town. One person just seemed to stand out over all the other faces. No matter where we was, Tawanda seemed to always attract my attention. She didn't try to draw attention to herself by means of being loud, or dressing a certain way; she was just being herself. I didn't know anything about her except that she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen.
Tawanda will always be able to tell the exaggerated stories of how I stared at her all the time, and those stories are accurate with no embellishment needed. I told myself, "I will talk to that girl if its the last thing I do!" A year later I did! To my surprise, she was nothing like I had imagined. She was very friendly and easy to talk to. She had a warm personality and an infectious smile. We became good friends and started dating. We shared some great times and genuinely enjoyed each others company. Even though we loved each other and got along very well, God knew we were not ready. He saw fit for us to live our lives apart and to be what he wanted us to be as individuals. We remained good friends and always kept in touch. We always found a way to ensure that the other was doing well. Twenty years later God once again dictated the paths of our lives and showed us the very thing we had been searching for: EACH OTHER. The feelings we first felt appeared again and brought us to this occasion. I admire the person she is and I'm proud of the things she has accomplished. She makes me better in everything I do and I know she loves me as I do her. The Lord works in mysterious ways and his blessings are evident in this story of two souls that were destined to be one! I love you Tawanda, Yesterday, Today and Always.
