Our story is a very simple one really. Although we lived 37 second away from each other’s home...we never actually met. It all started on a Saturday afternoon in June 2015. A friend called me to ask me if I wanted to join him and a few other friends at the Beachaven Winery. Of course I was pretty busy enjoying a marathon of Netflix movies. So, I was a little reluctant to accept the invitation…nevertheless I did agree to join them there. About 45 minutes later I was there with a bottle of wine and two glasses in my hands…just in case I needed to share…lol. Thomasa was leaving the winery when our paths crossed. I do remember that she was wearing a really nice summer dress with the most captivating smile I have ever seen… “I think I know you from somewhere," I said to her. I know... that line was pretty lame… but hey, I was stunned by this beautiful thing standing in front of me. We talked for a while and she told me about an earlier kayak trip that she had just came back from with her son. Coincidentally, they finished the trip earlier than usual and that’s how she was able to come to the Jazz on the Lawn festival. Coincidence?…I think not! Lol Our short conversation was very pleasant. And so, I took the opportunity to invite her to my Night Club. I used that as an excuse for another opportunity to see her again. You see, at the time I had a Latin Night Club in the area and it was my night to work in it… After briefing my security guys about my new found friend visit, I waited nervously for her arrival…and I mean nervous! I remember thinking to myself "me nervous?…Really? What is this High School?"...Lol She did showed up to the Club that evening, and my security guys escorted her to where I was. I have to admit, because of my nervousness I couldn’t stop talking about me, myself and I. I remember thinking… “What is wrong with me?" Needless to say, she did notice and after a few dances she was gone. Anxiety started to set in when I didn’t hear from her for a few weeks. So I decided one day, to text her using as an excuse a lame apology for my actions that night at the club. Because the evening was kind of awkward, I though an apology was the best approach. So after a little act of contrition, she did reply to my calling...a week later! Not only did she reply, but I got invited to a concert in Nashville…this was NOT what I expected! The only condition was that I will have to drive. No problem, I said. "Where can I pick you up?" I asked. And she replied,"Pick me up in the parking lot of the theater by Exit 1." To which I replied, “No problem, I live like 5 minutes from there". She immediately asked “Where?" After I told her where I live, she started laughing and that’s when I found out that her house was 37 seconds from mine. After we agreed that I will picking her up at her home, she immediately indicate to me that “This was not a date”. She made that very clear, and the pepper spray visible in her purse reassured me of that! Lol However, on the long trip to Nashville I did manage to gain her trust. And by the time the concert was over with, we were both pretty relaxed. I remember that during our conversation I mentioned to her that this was my very first time visiting downtown Nashville. Stunned by my comment, she was like we have to go “Honky-Tonking!" "Sure," I said. "Let’s go! I am super ready!" I responded…not really sure of what I’ve just agreed upon… Well, by the end of the night I was very pleased of how the evening had developed. And “Honky-tonking” was actually a lot of fun!So, I decided around midnight to close the night by offering her a horse carriage ride around downtown Nashville. I could see the excitement in her face, and that was the moment that I realized that the evening was a total success. And the fact that my eyes were not burning with maze, reassured me of that!…Lol. |
