The 18 Romantic Destinations to Honeymoon in 2018

You've made it official–and now it's time to unwind. Whether you're the type of couple that wants to explore a once-in-a-lifetime destination, experience otherworldly food and architecture or simply veg out on one of the world's most beautiful beaches, we've got you covered. Wedding planning, while exciting, can be a major source of stress–and your honeymoon is likely going to be your first real chance to enjoy some quality time with your spouse. The trip should be relaxing, first and foremost, and suit your wants, needs and style as a couple. With that said, incorporating all of your favorite things into one trip can overwhelm, or take away from your time spent simply enjoying one another's company.

When planning, consider your bucket list (a honeymoon is the ultimate excuse to invest in a trip you'd otherwise never splurge on), your getaway goals (lounging poolside? A spa? Hiking? Indulging in local cuisine after all those months on a wedding diet?) and the best times to visit your dream destinations. Keep in mind that while off-season travel can save you money, it can also be unpredictable. Decide whether you're the type of couple who can handle making the most out of your plans being derailed; the last thing you'd ever want is to spend the majority of your trip in inclement weather, or discover that most of a location's must-visits are only open in high season. We've considered the world's most romantic, untapped, exciting and visually stunning destinations when crafting this list, and have teamed up with industry experts to give you all the reasons you'll need to visit, and where and when to plan your stay. Here, the 18 ultimate honeymoons to have on your short list for 2018.

New Dream Honeymoon Resorts in Mexico and Belize

Dream Hotel Group has announced the development of three new hotels in Mexico and Belize: Unscripted Tulum, Unscripted Belize and Dream Belize.

The first of two Belize openings for the group, Unscripted Belize will debut in late 2018 with 24 beachfront cabana accommodations right on the Caribbean Sea. The boutique property will also have an outdoor restaurant and bar, an expansive pool area and two private boats for snorkeling and scuba diving.

Set to open in 2020, Dream Belize will have 100 guestrooms and suites, 120 hotel condominiums and 40 branded residential homes. Four dining and nightlife concepts, three pools, a luxury spa and fitness center, and multiple co-working suites round out the resort offerings.

Both properties will be located in the Kanantik Belize master plan community, just north of Placencia; they will also be owned and developed by Luke Chadwick with architectural design by Gensler. The 5,800-acre Kanantik is surrounded by palm trees, and located at the edges of the nearby Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, a jaguar preserve and bird-watcher haven.

Everything You Need to Know About Las Vegas for 2018

Posted: January 10, 2018

Everything you need to know about new concerts, festivals, sporting events and attractions in Las Vegas in 2018.

Concerts

One of Las Vegas’ biggest festivals is Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC). This year three-day festival has been moved from its usual Father’s Day weekend up to May 18 – 20. It remains at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. New this year at EDC is the ability to camp from Thursday, May 17 until Monday, May 22. Guests can opt to rent a luxury ShiftPod2 or they can bring their own tent or RV. Campers will have access to an exclusive entrance to the festival, go-karting, pool parties, “rave aerobics,” yoga, wellness workshops, guest speakers, comedians and more.

In April, Vegas will host the second iteration of the Las Rageous Music Festival, which drew 10,000 rock and metal fans both days in last year’s inaugural event. The two-day festival, held April 20 – 21 this year, will take over two square blocks at the Las Vegas Events Center and will feature artists like A Perfect Circle, Five Finger Death Punch, Ghost, Judas Priest, Underoath and more.

New residencies in Vegas include: Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin at MGM’s Park Theater; The Voice: Neon Dreams at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino; and Earth, Wind & Fire at The Venetian Las Vegas. Starting in late 2018, Lady Gaga will begin a series of 36 shows through all of 2019 and into 2020. Ricky Martin will play 12 shows from March through June. Neon Dreams will include shows by The Voice contestants Alisan Porter, Chris Mann, Mary Sarah, Matthew Schuler and Matt McAndrew; they will be joined by future winners of The Voice and backed by a band led by Michael Sanchez. Also available to guests of Neon Dreams is an exhibition-style lobby where they can record their own demos, view memorabilia and sit in the coaches’ chairs. Earth, Wind & Fire’s limited residency runs from May 2 – 12.

Sports

The biggest news in the Las Vegas sports world is the arrival of the NFL’s Oakland Raiders. At the end of 2017, the team broke ground on a 62-acre plot across from the Mandalay Bay Resort. The $1.9 billion stadium will seat 65,000 people when it opens; however, this will be in 2020.

For 2018, the Vegas Golden Knights are enjoying success as one of the top teams in the NHL despite it being their inaugural season. The team plays their home games at the T-Mobile Arena, which is co-owned by AEG and MGM Resorts International. The last home game of the regular season is March 31. The T-Mobile Arena itself hosts between 100 and 150 events each year with seating ranging from 12,000 up to 20,000 depending on the event. Other events this year include Katy Perry, Calibash, WWE, the PAC-12 Men’s Basketball Tournament, Justin Timberlake, U2, P!NK and more.

Also of note is the WNBA’s San Antonio Stars have moved to Las Vegas and were renamed the Las Vegas Aces. They will play 17 home games at the Mandalay Bay Events Center between May and September.

As far as non-live sports events, Jose Canseco, Jim McMahon, Terrell Owens and Jimmy King will host an interactive sports show at Caesars Palace, giving fans an up-close and personal experience of the athletes recounting stories from their playing days. The shows begin January 25. Attractions

Just opened is the Fly LINQ, the first zip line on the Las Vegas Strip, at the LINQ Promenade. There are 10 side-by-side zip lines capable of launching all riders simultaneously. Guests take an elevator up the 122-foot-tall launch tower and ride the zip line for 1,080 feet.

Treasure Beach: A New Barbados Adults-Only Hotel

Posted: January 2, 2018

Treasure Beach: A New Barbados Adults-Only Hotel

There’s a new way to stay on Barbados’ platinum coast. And it’s rather special.

Barbados’ Elegant Hotels has done it again with the debut of the totally transformed adults-only Treasure Beach, a modern but charming, luxurious retreat on the West Coast.

The boutique all-suite hotel, which has 35 units, held its soft opening this week on a privileged perch of Barbados’ picturesque Paynes Bay beach.

The decor is a smooth blend of quintessential Barbados and contemporary, sleek details, with little clever touches that are wholly original.

The rooms are beautiful, with stone walls and a host of delightful amenities, from espresso machines to creatively “framed” flat screen televisions to other comforts like free-Wifi and free daily breakfast and even a free sundown happy hour.

There are three food and beverage concepts: the international Tapestry, The Wine Cellar and the oceanfront Batik Bar, along with a lovely pool and even “beach ambassadors,” who bring you everything from tropical drinks to chilled sun cream.

Elegant Hotels had acquired Treasure Beach in May, and immediately went to work, turning an older property into a cutting-edge, must-visit hotel.

What they’ve also created is a place that marries the kind of hip touches that you find in the world’s hottest high-design hotels with a classic Bajan foundation.
