Bride

Most brides would shudder at the thought of being proposed to at a professional sports game...but not this girl. Those who know me and my love of baseball, in particular the Cubbies, know that this most perfect proposal happened at Wrigley Field at a four game series vs. the Dodgers - Michael's team! So, as the story goes, unshockingly, the Cubs did lose two out of three games to the Boys in Blue, but the biggest shock was his proposal in the middle of the third inning as I thought he was going for the nachos that we had put under the seat.  I asked him what he was doing because we all know what goes under the seat stays under the seat until game over, then to the trash it goes...as he sternly told me he wasn't reaching for the nachos and instead reached into his pocket for the most perfect solitaire and surprise of my life!

Groom

Believe it or not, our discussions regarding marriage made me go into sneaky stealth mode to surprise her.  We had originally discussed getting engaged sometime after the first part of 2015, but I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Teri and didn't want to wait until that January to propose, so I did it in September, 2014.

Ok, here's the sneaky part.  Once we decided to go to the Dodgers v. Cubs series in Chicago (because she lost a bet), I knew that would be the perfect setting. So with the ring in my luggage, we were on our way.  I didn't know which game it would be or how I would choose to ask for her hand.

As we attended the first game, I was nervous because they used metal detector wands on each person, and wondered how I would be able to sneak the ring in (no, it didnt dawn on me that women all over the world wear wedding rings and stroll right into stadiums - hey, i was nervous!) So game two it would be and thankfully I, too strolled right through security.  I absolutely wish all my family and friends could have been there with us that 3rd inning to witness in person how surprised she was and how nervous I was.  The video will never give you the whole story though, so I will share with family and friends what I said to her: "Teri, I liked you very much when we were friends as a kid, but I love you for the woman you are! Will you Marry Me?"

And the rest, they say, is history.  Here we are on this amazing journey together!
