 | Chase originally wanted to do something lavish and over the top. He thought about getaways, fancy dinners and hot air balloons. After confiding in his friend Derrick, who knew them both, he decided that heart felt sentiment would be best received.
When Whitney and Chase first started dating, she introduced him to geocaching. It's a world wide, high-tech treasure hunt with maps and clues to each buried cache. They hadn't done a geocaching adventure since their early weeks of dating, so he thought they could relive those memories. But for Chase, that idea alone was fun but not so much romantic. He planned a fountain side picnic in the park. He had never been good at surprising her, so he dare not attempt it for such a special occasion. He had her help with their casual day at the park by picking out everything for the basket. That sunny Wednesday, on December 7th in Baldwin Park he took his girlfriend on a picnic to watch the families play and to enjoy the weather. They snacked on small shared plates and toasted to their relationship with champagne. Once they had finished lunch and conversation, he suggested checking the geocashing map to see if any hidden treasures were near by. A cache, in fact was close to the fountain that they sat beside. He guided her to the right as he walked to left to cover more ground as they looked for the treasure. He proclaimed that he had found it, her not believing that it was so easy. Regardless, she ran to him with excitement. As she approached him eagerly, he then slowly got down on one knee.
"Whitney, I love you. I am in love with you. You are my best friend and my favorite person. Will you make me the happiest man and be my wife?" |
