| In explaining why we didn't want/need physical gifts, Sarah recently commented to a friend, "Well, we have every thing we could possibly need; I mean, we're closer to 40 than we are to 20..." To which Sarah's friend Emily made the harsh (but true) observation that we are, indeed, actually closer to 50 than we are to 20... Ouch. Anyway, we do have everything we need and we're at a point in our lives where we're trying to minimize our possessions, not collect them. Our basement is full to the brim of "stuff" and it would not only be frustrating to collect more, but it would be irresponsible. We thought about not registering anywhere at all, because we didn't want people to think we were just asking for money (tacky) - we really don't think it's necessary for people to get us any thing, period. But too many people said that if we didn't register somewhere that we'd STILL end up w/ things that, while very thoughtful, were not useful or desired. Those same people also suggested a honeymoon registry - which we thought was intriguing, if not genius. We will be taking our honeymoon in early 2012 when both of us have vacation time accrued... And we plan on enjoying every minute of it! Neither of us can remember taking a full-blown vacation as adults, with the luxury of being able to "live it up" the way we would like to, so this option made a ton of sense to us. We thank you for ensuring that we get the vacation/honeymoon of a lifetime that we will remember and treasure forever. Link to registry |
