Bride

I first met Jacob at his nephew, Noah's birthday party in August 2011. I remember walking in and seeing Jacob and his family gathered in the living room, talking and having fun. I was introduced to everyone, inlcuding Jacob.

Throughout the party, I didn't really say much to him, just watched him. I could tell he had a sense of humor because of how he was joking with his brother, Jason. I remember watching Jacob take his camera and take very close up shots of Jason who was trying to get away from it. It kind of reminded me of certain members of my family (Dad....Dan) and I thought he would definitely fit into my family. The party continued with some games, cake, and opening presents.

Towards the end of the party, somehow Jacob and I ended up by ourselves in the dining room. I was sitting at the table while he was sitting in the corner. I remember thinking to myself, "It's now or never." So, I looked at him and asked him a question. I honestly don't know what I first asked him, but whatever it was brought him over next to me to talk to me. We just sat at the table and talked about anything and everything. About, halfway through the conversation I remember thinking, "I think he's the one." And he definitely turned out to be my prince charming.

"Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!"  Hebrews 13:2 (NLT)

I consider my self a very patient person. Although, just like anyone else, I can try and picture where I might be in five years. But even I know I'm never going to get there doing the same things. So maybe being patient isn't such a good thing all of the time. Maybe I'm the one who needs to do my part in my story instead of waitng for it to be handed to me. Am I going to wait for everything? What was stopping me from taking that first step? One side of my mind is reminding me that out of the hundreds of women in Osceola county, she was just another beautiful face with which I would never have the chance of getting to know.  The other side was thinking about birthday cake.

Anyways....how was she different?

Well, there was that warm smile of hers that helped me put away a bit of fear. Then there was her voice. That helped with the anxiety. Her confidence made me brave, and her questions kept me busy.  Who was this girl? And why did she like Star Trek more than Star Wars? What was I waiting for again? Maybe I went over to the dinning room table just for a seat. Or maybe I just wanted to make sure she had everything she needed. What ever the case, I know now I'm doing nothing short of entertaining an angel.
