Roger and I love to eat out and one of our favorite places is Ruth’s Chris. Not just because of their mouth watering fillet mignon or the chicken stuffed with cream cheese or their famous chopped salad but also the high level of service that we receive. It seemed like just another beautiful night at Ruth’s Chris overlooking the beach at Del Mar. Although, I did mention to Roger that our usual waiter that stands next to our table ready to fill our water glass was not there.  After dinner, Roger got onto one knee and asked me to marry him. At that moment, all of the lovely times we have had together flashed through my mind. I then noticed that Roger had a look of grave concern and I realized that I had not answered him yet. I then said yes and I could see a sigh of relief on Roger’s face. It just keeps getting better.

This moment was in the makings for several months. We love to go to Ruth Chris and it became one of our favorite restaurants. So we went several times prior to me popping the question so she was accustomed to dinning there for no particular reason other than to be with each other. On October 15, 2009 I made reservations at Ruth Chris which she thought nothing about. She did notice that we used valet, which we normally do not use (I don’t trust the valet with my stuff in my car OCD at its best) also I asked for a table in a quite part of the restaurant, in other words in the back of the restaurant which we normally get a window. When we arrived, I spoke to the matradee and ask that we have privacy but that meant that we did not get our normal level of service.

Once we sat down, we ordered, and our food was amazing as usual. Sherie did complain a little about not getting service such as her water filled and bread replenished in a timely manner. I told her it must be a busy night and Sherie accepted that reasoning, which was good for me :).

After desert I thought it was a good time to make my move. So I got on one knee and asked her to marry me. Her answer came very very slowly; so slowly in fact I think that I was very nervous and turning dark blue. You see, I was holding my breath waiting for her answer. She kept smiling at me, but there was no answer. I was getting more worried as the minutes (time in my mind) passed by without an answer. Finally, finaly she said "yes" and I was able to exhale and take a another breath. The wait staff clapped and waited to see the ring.

What an extraordinary and magical evening.
